Well, if you haven't guessed by now- I hunt.
Also, my legal name is not Writing Huntress, it's Lisa Jane Barron.
I'll allow you a few moments to let that sink in, the name part especially.
Oh did I mention I only eat wild game?
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I hunt and I love it. What I really love is the way an arrow sounds the second it escapes from a rest, the smell of dew slowly retreating in the sunlight and the humble feeling of harvesting an animal in order to provide food for my family. It is an ancient, beautiful ritual that should be revered and respected. Hunting is an escape from the everyday grind, a way to be fully immersed in nature. I relish in and am blessed by being allowed to hunt.
I grew up in Western New York, lived for the majority of two years in North Carolina where I met my husband, and then moved to chilly, stunning North Dakota. When we figured the ducks and geese needed a break, we decided to head to Texas where we now dwell.
I graduated from Niagara University with my BA in English and a minor in Writing, summa cum laude.
I was published by Waveland Press (2009) in an academic anthology on rhetoric for an article I co-wrote with one of my English professors.
I am an obsessive bibliophile and wordsmith.
Most of all, I love life. I love writing about my crazy experiences, profound moments and funny predicaments. I love waking up to four rescue dogs who are each insane in their own way. I love being able to hunt and be best friends with a guy who I randomly met at party. I love how life can turn terrible situations into blessings. I love how visiting a church full of people who love God and one another fills me with hope for the future. I love my mom and dad for everything they did for me growing up. For everything they still do now that I'm a big kid. I love every morning I'm blessed to wake up.
Thank you so much for stopping by and reading this blog. It is a labor of love. I hope you smile and feel a pull to go outside and really enjoy nature after reading it.
This blog is dedicated to our beloved Oscar.
